She could not have chosen a more appropriate outfit to eclipse the flowers exposition at the 35th edition of the Ghent Flower. Launching the event, alongside her husband, the King Philippe of Belgium, with a predicted 250 000 visitors attending in the course of the 10 days, Queen Matilda had hoisted the colors. This was the case on Sunday April 24th in Aarschot, a town in the province of Flemish Brabant. Breaking away from her usual Belgian brand of designer Edouard Vermeulen, the wife of King Philip, however, had opted for another of her Belgian born, American based former princess Diane von Fürstenberg. Queen Mathilde wore a Diane von Furstenberg jumpsuit. She had chosen her navy blue printed with a regular pattern of small white flowers stylized. Mathilde combined the dress with long pearl earrings, black pumps and a blue clutch.
Dressed Mathilde of Belgium applauded the Belgian female choir Scala was happening on his land on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. Bringing together some sixty girls aged 14 to 20 years, the choir founded in 1996 by two brothers in Aarschot today one of the greatest vocal ensembles in Europe.
