In a statement, the Royal Court announcing the passing away of Bahrain's most prominent philanthropist Shaikha Lulwa bint Mohammed Al Khalifa at the age of 78, last night and paid homage to the deceased who dedicated her life to serving Bahraini women as well as her society and nation.

In 1953, she formed Bahrain's first NGO  the Bahrain Children & Mothers Welfare Society and devoted herself to advancing their rights and increasing their level of engagement in society, serving as president.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has received calls of condolences from the Emir of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on the passing away of Shaikha Lulua bint Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Isa Al Khalifa.
