The Swedish Royal Courts: Queen Silvia and Princess Sofia attends a meeting with child rights organizations

Monday, March 21st Her Majesty Queen Sofia and soon to mother Princess Sofia attended a meeting at the Royal Palace together with child rights organizations in Sweden to discuss efforts to help newly arrived immigrants children and young people.
The queen was the Chairperson of the meeting, welcomed everyone to the Royal Palace to discuss cooperation. Invited representatives were from: The Ombudsman for Children, BRIS, Care about the children, ECPAT, Mentor Sweden, Plan International Sweden, Save the Children, Scouts, SOS Children's Villages, UNICEF and the World Childhood Foundation.


Initially presented the Ombudsman and the organizations that work done today with a focus on Sweden. Together they work with information dissemination, training and activities for children, parents, professionals and agencies.

This was followed by a workshop where the participants in groups discussed what is being done today and what needs to be developed. In a summary of the talks showed that there is a clear desire for collaboration between organizations, governments and civil society. The experience and knowledge needs to be shared and how important it is to listen to the children.

After the meeting Princess Sofia visited the Riddarholm Church and the Treasury together with the department of public activities. The Princess is standing right next to Karl XII's grave in the Riddarholm Church.
