The Spanish Royal Courts: Memorial Service in memory of Ecuador

10:57:00

Last Tuesday, May 17th Madrid paid tribute to the victims of the terrible earthquake which occured last April in Ecuador. A Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Real de la Almudena in memory of the hundreds of deaths and thousands of injured and homeless. Their Majesties Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI attended the religious ceremony that brought together representatives of institutions and the Spanish civil society and the diplomatic corps and the Ecuadorian community in Spain.

To this sad appointment, Letizia had chosen to wear tight black Felipe Varela skirt suit, Magrit 'Mila' pumps and Felipe Varela chevron stitch clutch. The mother of two, who had left her slicked hair down, was decorated with small earrings silver star shaped.

On April 16th, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake caused the death of nearly 700 people and left more than 12,000 wounded in north-western Ecuador. The tremor, which was felt as far as Peru and Colombia, has particularly affected the most tourist region of the Pacific coast of the Latin American countries, between the provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabi.

This Wednesday, May 18th a new earthquake, of magnitude 6.8, rocked Ecuador. This would be a replica of the earthquake a month earlier. AFP said its epicenter was 14.7 km depth near the coast of the country in the province of Manabi. At this time, no victim is to be deplored.
