The Swedish Royal Courts: The Royal Family at the Nobel Academy

The princesses of Sweden were radiating Sunday evening December 20 for the meeting of the Swedish Academy, the Old Stock Exchange in the old town of Stockholm.

Two weeks after the Nobel ceremony, the Academy met in his seat Börshuset to take stock of the year. Speeches of the Director of the Academy, accounts report, but also reading poetry ... the meeting took place under the watchful eye of the royal family: King Carl XVI Gustav and his wife Queen Silvia; their daughter Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel; their son Prince Carl Philip and his wife Sofia, and the youngest Princess Madeleine, with her husband Christopher O'Neill. The Swedish Academy was founded in 1786 by King Gustav III, in order to promote the language and the literature of his country.

Since 1901 and the founding of Alfred Nobel prizes, the Academy is also responsible for nominating the Nobel Prize for Literature.
