The British Royal Courts: On her mother's trace

01:17:00

Queen Elizabeth II was expected on December 3 at St Columba Church in London. Accompanied by her husband Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen had come to celebrate the 60th anniversary of this building. The reconstruction of this place of worship, which had been destroyed by bombing during the Second World War, began July 6 1950. But its foundation stone was officially laid in 1955 by her mother, the queen consort Elizabeth I, who had been contracted to carry out this act of symbolic.
Dress in turquoise coat with navy blue suede lapel, on a flowered dress and wearing a matching hat adorned a big flower, the grandmother of Princes William and Harry visited the scene and attended a service of thanksgiving alongside her husband. She also spoke at a reception with the clergy of this church and its parishioners. Among the audience, Elizabeth was able to shake hands with the stonemason who was there 60 years ago for the re-dedication ceremony of St Columba in the presence of the Queen Mother
