The Swedish Royal Courts: Hello Hello to HRH Prince Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil, Duke of Södermanland

It's a dad with stars who address the press on April 19th at 21: 30 pm in the lobby of the Danderyd Hospital, situated on the outskirts of Stockholm. Prince Carl Philip came clarify the birth of his first child, which was announced by the Royal House at 19 h 44 with a signed statement from the Grand Marshal of the Court. It just showed that the new mom Princess Sofia had given birth at 18 h 25 to "a healthy and prosperous child" and that the mother and child were doing well. But everyone still knew the sex of the newborn.

Full of emotion, the son of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, revealed that the welcome a little boy. Mimicking the size of their newborn Prince said he weighed 3.595 kg and 49 cm.

"For me and my wife, it's the greatest thing that ever happened, the feelings can not be put into words, love is the only thing I think now we are a family," said Carl Philip, according to comments reported by the Swedish tabloid "Expressen" which described the young father as being in tears. "It's a gift to be a parent. I am full of admiration for my wife and all the women who have the strength to carry and give life, "he added.


The middle brother of Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine stressed that neither he nor Sofia knew the sex of the child before birth. "We chose not to know. We wanted it to be a surprise, "he told Carl Philip. As to whether the infant was more like his mother or his father, he replied: "I think it will be a very good mix of both of us." The young dad soon 37, who himself cut the umbilical cord, revealed that he and Sofia had cried when they saw their son. "It was inevitable," he admitted.

"Expressen" states that the Court will hold a Council cabinet meeting at the Royal Palace on Thursday with a happy grand dad King Carl XVI Gustaf  communicating the name of his new grandson name and title. The King and Queen of Sweden are already grandparents of two children of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel Princess Estelle, 4, and Prince Oscar, 1 month and half and two children Princess Madeleine and Christopher O'Neill -the Princess Leonore, 2 years, and Prince Nicolas, 10 months.

The little one first name was revealed two day after the birth, Thursday April 21st, by his grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf at a special Concil meeting at the Royal Palace in Stockholm broadcast live on public radio SR: "On the call Alexander. " His full name Prince Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil, the child will also take the title of Duke of Sodermanland, sometimes referred to under its Latin form Sudermannia or Sudermania, is a historical province or landskap on the south eastern coast of Sweden. It borders Östergötland, Närke, Västmanland and Uppland. It is also bounded by lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. In Swedish, the province name is frequently shortened to Sörmland.
Södermanland means "Southern man land". It was used as a directional reference to lake Mälaren, compared to Uppland (north) and Västmanland (west)

The Royal Palace released at the same time, a first picture taken at the maternity ward at Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm: it shows Princess Sofia, and Prince Carl Philip holding the basket in which find the little boy. We do not distinguish the face of the newborn, who has already returned home with his parents.


The boy is fifth in line of succession to the throne of the Kingdom of Sweden - after his aunt Crown Princess, elder cousin Estelle, cousin Prince Oscar, and dad Prince Carl-Philip. The little prince will not pass before his cousin and aunt under the 1980 law on succession that allowed to keep Victoria, as eldest daughter, as heir instead.

The first pregnancy Sofia was announced on social networks, on October 15th 2015. The Princess, which works more with her husband and her foundations, continued to assume her royal responsibilities until last March. On the occasion of his birth, a cabinet meeting was held at the Royal Palace on April 21st with his grandfather King Cal XVI Gustaf as head who stated that the name given to the Prince is Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil,  and informed the cabinet that the Prince has been appointed as the Duke of Sodermanland. A proud aunt and new mother Crown Princess Victoria attended the Cabinet meeting. During the meeting His Majesty was heard to have said that he is the last family member to have met the prince as he has a cold and joke about meeting him from a distance. The Last Duke of Sodermanland was the little Prince Alexander's great great grand uncle Prince Wilhelm of Sweden and Norway.

Meaning of Name 
Alexander: Alexander has royal ancestry in Europe - the name means "ruler of the world" and has already been the more czars in Russia led to the name.

In the Serbian royal family, it is a common name - Crown Prince Alexander is perhaps not entirely unfamiliar? Additionally named crown prince's son, Prince Alexander of Serbia. Both of Queen Margrethe's  grandsons both eldest and young, Prince Nikolai of Denmark, and Prince Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander have Alexander in their names. We also have a King Willem Alexander  in the Netherlands.

Erik: The name Erik is also a further back in the Bernadotte Family. Just like him, the Second Duke of Sodermanland was a heir to the throne of Sweden. He was the father of King Magnus who became king of both Norway and Sweden.. The name also pays tribute to his maternal grand father Erik Hellqvist

The Swedish Royal Courts: Princess Sofia visited Sophiahemmet

On the afternoon of Thursday March 31st, in a last official visit before baby no one comes, a very pregnant Princess Sofia who will soon be giving birth to the couple's first child, but it did not prevent the soon to be mother to continue working tirelessly for her patronage Sophiahemmet, visited its surgical wards. The Princess is Sophiahemmet honorary chairman.
She began with a review of the hospital structure and description of caregivers work fromCEO Peter Seger and chief medical officer January Zedenius accounted for presentations.

They then visited the surgical department where the department head Thomas Johansen, received the princess and got her to take part in activities at the ward.

La Cour Royale Suedoise: La dernière visite officielle avant le bebe

L'après-midi du jeudi 31 Mars, dans une dernière visite officielle avant que le bébé ne vient, une très enceinte Princess Sofia qui va bientôt donner naissance au premier enfant du couple, mais cela n'a pas empêché la mère bientôt de continuer à travailler sans relâche pour son patronage Sophiahemmet, visité ses services de chirurgie. La Princesse est Sophiahemmet président honoraire.
Elle a commencé par un examen de la structure hospitalière et la description des soignants travailler du PDG Pete Seeger et médecin-chef Janvier Zedonius représentaient pour les présentations.
Ils ont ensuite visité le service de chirurgie où le chef du département Thomas Johansen, a reçu la princesse et a obtenu son de prendre part à des activités dans le service.

The Swedish Royal Courts: Queen Silvia and Princess Sofia attends a meeting with child rights organizations

Monday, March 21st Her Majesty Queen Sofia and soon to mother Princess Sofia attended a meeting at the Royal Palace together with child rights organizations in Sweden to discuss efforts to help newly arrived immigrants children and young people.
The queen was the Chairperson of the meeting, welcomed everyone to the Royal Palace to discuss cooperation. Invited representatives were from: The Ombudsman for Children, BRIS, Care about the children, ECPAT, Mentor Sweden, Plan International Sweden, Save the Children, Scouts, SOS Children's Villages, UNICEF and the World Childhood Foundation.


Initially presented the Ombudsman and the organizations that work done today with a focus on Sweden. Together they work with information dissemination, training and activities for children, parents, professionals and agencies.

This was followed by a workshop where the participants in groups discussed what is being done today and what needs to be developed. In a summary of the talks showed that there is a clear desire for collaboration between organizations, governments and civil society. The experience and knowledge needs to be shared and how important it is to listen to the children.

The Swedish Royal Courts: Princess Sofia attend Project Playground gala

A heavily pregnant Princess Sofia who will soon be giving birth to the couple's first child, but it did not prevent the soon to be mother to continue working tirelessly for her organization, Project Playground, which she attended the gala on Friday March 18th.

Even though the Prince Carl Philip had to cancel at the last minute to doctor's advice

Therefore, the princess taken to Gothenburg, where dinner was served in at the Auktionsverket Kulturarena in Göteborg. The purpose of the charity dinner is to provide fund for unaccompanied young people in the districts of South Africa. Project Playground is a Swedish non profit organization founded in 2010 which works for enhancing the chances of children and young people. The Swedish Royal Courts: A new portrait for family

Princess Madeleine shared a new photo of her son Prince Nicolas, Duke of Angermanland with a message on her official Facebook page on March 18th. "Time is flying can't believe my sweet Nicolas is 9 months!"


At just 5 days old we had new portraits of Prince Oscar, new photographs were released by Kingahuset (the royal palace of Sweden) was quickly followed by a couple others, the first listed his parents, his second sister Princess Estelle(whose picture we have seen in a Marie Chantal dress on newly released Postal Stamps). Standing side by side, in a fuchsia dress Crown Princess Victoria and Crown Prince Daniel set before the camera, a slight smile. However, this is a broad smile sported their little Estelle, photographed bust in a white dress with short sleeves.

Other members of the Swedish royal family also had their portraits updated at the beginning of 2016. Her Majesty Queen Silvia was immortalized on film in a white skirt suit, as her youngest daughter Princess Madeleine and her daughter in law Princess Sofia -pregnant with their first child-appear on their new official photographs in elegant evening dresses in blue lace and wearing tiaras. The little Princess Leonore, daughter of Princess Madeleine and her husband Christopher O'Neill, is not far behind. She also got a new portrait to mark her two years on 20 February. Three days later it was the turn of his cousin Princess Estelle of having her taking for her 4 years, taking one pose and in Victoria mom and dad Daniel company.

The Swedish Royal Courts: The Prince Couple meets with UN ambassadors

On Thursday March 10, Their Royal Highness Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia received in audience UN ambassadors at the Royal Palace. The ambassadors are in Sweden to discuss the follow-up to the climate meeting in Paris and the implementation of COP21 Agenda by 2030.

The prince opened the meeting with a welcoming speech and thanked the ambassadors for their commitment and work contributed to the agreement reached in Paris. The prince also spoke about the important work that follows and the Royal Family are particularly pleased that the objectives highlights the urgent issue of children's rights.
The Outfit Princess Sofia is wearing is one we have already seen on another pregnant Swedish Princess. Yeah Crown Princess Victoria had worn this Seraphine Ltd outfit on separate occasion. The Swedish Royal Courts: Princess Sofia continues her fight against Cyber Bullying

Princess Sofia Duchess of Varmland held a meeting with Marten Schultz, law professor of Stockholm University and Angla Eklund, Law Institute CEO at the Royal Palace. The subject of the meeting was "näthat"(which means online threats and abuse. It is a legal term but not a general term and it can involve different crimes.) and how to deal with it on a legal point of view and in a court of law on February 25, 2016.

Prince Couple's Foundation
To combat bullying with the vision of children and young people should have the right and opportunity to be themselves, the purpose of Prince Couple's foundation. The work focuses on combating näthat/CyberBullying and disseminate knowledge about dyslexia. The basis for the work of the Foundation is Prince Couple's commitment to these issues.

The Swedish Royal Courts: Queen Silvia, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia at the meeting of Royal Academy of Fine Arts

Molded in an elegant red dress, Princess Sofia  pregnant with their first child, gracefully showed off mother-baby bump on Saturday, alongside her husband, Prince Carl Philip and her mother in law Queen Silvia.

While her husband King Carl XVI Gustaf was on an official three-day trip to Japan, Queen Silvia together with her son and daughter in law visited on February 19th at a meeting of the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm.

For the occasion, the beautiful Sofia opted for a scarlet shift dress with long sleeves, the embroidered flower corsage. It showed off her belly increasingly rebounded promise of the imminent birth of their first child. Her hair falling over her shoulders, the young woman of 31 years was accompanied by a red bag and MORRIS Ophelia Faux Fur Jacket, YSL Paris Patent Leather Pump.

Silvia had chosen to wear it on a brown scarf dress illuminated by multicolored geometric patterns.
