However this year, due to a strong flu that affected them both, the royal couple had to resolve to break with the tradition and had embarked on December 21, 2016 aboard a helicopter.

A little news from our lovely Queen Elisabeth II

It is not known whether she will attend this Sunday January 8th Mass at Sandringham. But Queen Elizabeth II has indeed resumed her activities in early 2017.

Queen Elizabeth II has not pointed the tip of her nose outside for several weeks now. Haven't caught a big cold which has prevented her from attending her annual Christmas service with the rest of the royal family celebrated at St Mary Magdalene Church. A week later, not yet feeling well, she also missed the new year service.  And many people are wondering if she will be present for this Sunday, January 8th 2017? We'll have to wait until then to find out.

However, the 90 old sovereign seems to be feeling much better. A few days ago a source close to the Palace had assured that she was back "on her feet" and has been up to date on current affairs. The contents of her red boxes, her famous red boxes marked ER (Elizabeth Regina) containing the various official documents transmitted to her by the government and her representations in the Commonwealth.

This resumption of activity was confirmed at the beginning of the week. The British press reported that the Palace had revealed that on Tuesday, January 3, Elizabeth II presented a "Queen's Page of the Chambers" award to one of its staff. She made him lieutenant of the Royal Order of Victoria.

On the same day, the monarch sent a message of condolence to Recep Erdogan, the President of Turkey, following the bombing in Istanbul on New Year's Day and killed 39 people. She said that Prince Philip, her husband, had been saddened to learn of this terrible attack, adding, "Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and the wounded and with the Turkish people."

The British Royal Courts: The Story of Her Majesty and the Royal Tesco shopping gift card

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has appeared all smiles after winning a voucher through the victory of one of her horses at a horse show.

There are no small savings, even for the (very wealthy) British Queen Elizabeth II who appeared all smiles after winning a voucher worth 50 pounds (96 Canadian Dollars) thanks to the victory of a her horses at the annual horse show. The week finally ended rather well for the sovereign, who made headlines in the press after the release of a video in which she describes as "very rude" Chinese officials for their behavior during the October visit of President Xi Jinping in the UK.

Thursday at the "Royal Windsor Horse Show", this passionate equestrian attended the victory of her Barber's Shop in horse trials of the prestigious competition held near Windsor Castle, one of her official residences located forty kilometers west of London. Wearing a royal blue quilted jacket, a scarf and a tweed skirt, the Queen was given an envelope containing a voucher for £ 50 to spend at Tesco, a major British supermarket chains. Visibly in high spirits, she laughed discovering the reward.

"We hope this prize will give a little boost to the royal weekly shopping" a spokesman for Tesco commented with a touch of irony. For besides the fact that Her Majesty, who has just turned 90, has hardly accustomed to shopping itself, it is indeed perhaps not uninteresting to note that the royal family spent in in 2015 some 1.3 million pounds (1.65 million euros) to fill his pantry or 25,000 pounds per week. The expenses of the royal family are partly funded by British taxpayers, who paid as such 37.9 million pounds in fiscal year 2014-15. According to the Sunday Times, Elizabeth II is the head of a fortune estimated at about 340 million pounds (431 million euros).
