The Hereditary Grand Duchess at an art exhibition

The official inauguration was scheduled for Friday, February 10th 2017 at 6 pm. The new exhibitions of the Mudam, the Grand-Duke Jean's modern art museum in Luxembourg, which open their doors to the public the following day, Saturday, February 11th. However, Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg was able to discover them as a preview on Thursday, February 9th. The Hereditary grand duchess was guided by the British artists Tony Gragg and Darren Almond who present their works there .

The daughter-in-law of the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg wore a black and white dress printed with a flower-seed, with transparent sleeves. Her hair pulled in ponytail, the 32 year old woman had adorned small earrings.

Passionate about art, Stéphanie de Luxembourg appeared to the angels during this private visit. A privilege that she owes to the position of chairman of the board of Mudam, which she ensures since the beginning of 2016.

Opened in 2006, the Museum of Modern Art Grand Duke Jean, nicknamed Mudam, was built by the famous Sino-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei - the author of the pyramid of the Louvre in Paris - on the site of an ancient fortress , The Fort Thüngen. It houses permanent collections of world-renowned contemporary art and offers temporary exhibitions.

Prince Louis and Princess Tessy of Luxemborg are getting a divorce

"Prince Louis and Princess Tessy have decided to divorce," an announcement the Grand Duke of Luxembourg issued in a statement on Wednesday evening.

Sad news coming out of Luxembourg. In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, January 18th, the Grand Ducal Court announced the divorce between Prince Louis and his wife Tessy. "Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess regret to announce that Prince Louis and Princess Tessy have decided to divorce," says the message from the palace. "Under these painful circumstances, they count on the understanding of all to respect the private sphere of the couple and their children."

Prince Louis born on August 3rd 1986 is the third son of the Grand Duke Henry and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, behind Prince William and Prince Felix. BLouis is Prince of Luxembourg, Prince of Bourbon-Parme and Prince of Nassau.

On 29 September 2006, Louis married Tessy Antony who was born on 28 October 1985. Engaged in the Luxembourg Army, she participated as a transport vehicle driver in the United Nations operation in Kosovo. It was during a visit of the troops to the Luxembourg that the prince met his future wife.

At the time of their marriage, the couple had already given birth to their first child Gabriel who was born on  March 28th 2006 in Geneva, Switzerland. He is the first grandchild of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. The couple had a second son, Noah, born on September 21st 2007.

For his marriage with Tessy, Louis had abandoned his place in the order of succession to the throne. On the occasion of the national holiday of 2009, Tessy and the two boys received the titles of princess and princes by the Grand-Duke Henri. Louis and Tessy, married and parents at 20 years, have continued brilliant studies - in communication, she in international relations. The family lived in London.

Luxembourg New Year Receptions

On Tuesday, January 10th, Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess, the Hereditary Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess on the occasion of the New Year have successively received an audience for the New Years reception at the Grand Ducal Palace. President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr Mars di Bartolomeo and the Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, followed by Prime Minister and Minister of State Xavier Bettel and members of the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The following day, Their Royal Highnesses continued successfully receiving in audience at the Grand Ducal Palace, the President and members of the Bureau of the Council of State , The representatives of the National Authorities followed by the members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Luxembourg, the representatives of the European Institutions, as well as the members of the Grand Ducal House.

Happy Birthday to two Former souvereigns His Majesty King Juan Carlos of Spain and H.R.H Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg who are each celebrating their 79th and 96th birthday respectively.

1) His Majesty King Juan Carlos was born as Juan Carlos Alfonso Víctor María de Borbón y Borbón-Dos Sicilias to Infante Juan, Count of Barcelona and Princess María Mercedes of Bourbon-Two Sicilies in Rome, Italy. He is the first born of 4 kids including Infante Pilar of Duchess of Badajoz, Infanta Margarita, Duchess of Soria and younger brother, Alfonso.
For a majority of his life the Former King lived in exile together with members of the spanish royal family while his grand father King Alfonso XIII. In 1962, He got married to the then Princess Sofia of Greece and Denmark now Former queen Sofia together had 3 children the then Prince Felipe V Prince of Asturias, Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina. In 2012 he abdicated in favour of his heir and successor Felipe now King Felipe V making his grand daughter Princess Leonor the first female apparent heir and successor, Princess of Asturias to the throne.

2) HRH Grand Duke Jean was born as Jean Benoît Guillaume Robert Antoine Louis Marie Adolphe Marc d'Aviano to the late Grand Duchess Charlotte and Prince Felix de Bourbon-Parma at Berg Castle. He is the first born to 6 children which includes Princess Elisabeth, Duchess von Hohenberg
Marie Adelaide, Countess Henckel von Donnesmarck,  Princess Marie Gabrielle, Dowager Countess af Holstein-Ledredborg, Prince Charles, Alix, Dowager Princess de Ligne. On April 9th 1953 he got married to Princess Joséphine-Charlotte of Belgium, daughter of Léopold III, King of the Belgians(sister to late King Baudoin, Former King Albert II and Prince Alexandre and aunt of King Philippe; First cousin to King Harald V of Norway and his sisters). Together they have three sons and two daughters: Princess Marie-Astrid, Grand Duke Henri, who ascended to the grand ducal throne in 2000, Prince Jean, Princess Margaretha, and Prince Guillaume. Together they have twenty-two grandchildren(which includes they Hereditary Grand Duke Prince Guillaume) and eight great-grandchildren.

The Luxembourger Ducal Courts: The Grand Ducal Couple in Finland *May 10th post missing post

Invited by the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö, the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg arrived on Tuesday May 10th  in Helsinki, for a three-day state visit. They were accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Etienne Schneider, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn and Minister of the Environment, Carole Dieschbourg and a business delegation.

The program of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg has been essentially marked by political events and economic punctuated the traditional state dinner and evening offered in return by the grand-ducal couple guests.

Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, who also laid wreaths at the Hietaniemi cemetery were despite their busy schedule to offer a small walking tour in the center of the Finnish capital. The opportunity to enter the amazing monolithic church Temppeliaukio. Emblematic of the current architectural expressionism of the 1960s, it has the distinction of having been carved into the rock and be covered with a copper filament dome ringed with a glass roof.

The Luxembourg Ducal COurts: New Official Portraits of The Grand-Duchess

On the occasion of her 60th birthday which will celebrated on March 22nd, The Ducal Palace release new portraits of the Grand Duchess.

On Tuesday Grand Duchess Maria Teresa was a special guest Editor in Chief for the Luxembourg news paper Tageblatt, with a focus on microfinance and an active international role for women
 The Grand Duchess's editorial piece highlighted the role of women and girls in building a "culture of peace" that is "fondé sur l’éducation et le partage" ("based on education and sharing").

She is now working closely with the journalists and artists together and decides what is on Wednesday on the first page in the Diary.

At the first briefing she has been a participant. The suggested topics for the various headings are already on the table. The theme of the Grand Duchess is: microfinance.

Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess gave a speech at the Lycée Technique du Centre on Wednesday morning. A speech after which the Grand Duchess met in small groups with students around themes such as immigration, refugees, the monarchy and specific language impairment.

The Luxembourger Ducal Courts: The Grand Ducal Family attends a musical

The lovely Former Grand Duke of Luxembourg who recently celebrated his 95th birthday Grand Duke Jean accompanied by his son the current Grand Duke Henri, his wife Grand Duchess Marie Teresa, grand son Hereditary Grand Duke Prince Guillaume and his wife Hereditary Grand Duchess, Princess Stephanie attended a special musical concert at Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg. They listened to the performance of musicians Xiaoming Wang, Sebastian Bohren, Lech Antonio Uszynski and Maya Weber.

The Luxemborgeois Ducal Courts: The Grand Duke receives the Traditional Pretzel

 His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri was offered four Pretzel by the Federation of Bakers-Confectioners Patrons of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at the annual Bretzelsonndeg 2016.

The pretzel is a Luxembourg pastry specialty, made of flaky dough covered with a layer of sugar fondant and almond and represents the arms of two lovers intertwined. The tradition is that man offers this famous pastry to his sweetheart on Sunday pretzels. This year, however, since it is a leap year, the tradition is reversed: it is women who offer the pretzel.

The Luxembourg Ducal Courts: Hereditary Grand Duke at the Aide à l'Enfance de l'Inde bazaar

HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg was a guest at this year 37th Aide à l'Enfance de l'Inde bazaar which took place in Sandweiler today.

Bazaar showcased Craftsmanship and spices from India and Nepal. The proceeds of the bazaar in 2016 is intended for the construction and rehabilitation in Nepal.

At the initiative of the Friends of Luxembourg Museums Association, HRH Hereditary Grand Duchess Princess Stephanie visited "Picasso.Mania" exhibition  and hundred Picasso masterpieces facing the greatest masters of contemporary art, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and others.

The Luxembourg Grand Ducal Court: The Hereditary Grand Couple visit Diekirch Museum

On January 21st, the Hereditary Grand Ducal couple, Their Royal Highnesses Hereditary Grand Duke, Prince Guillame and Hereditary Grand Duchess Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg visited National Museum of Military History (Musee national D'Historie Militaire) in the city of Diekirch, Luxembourg.
