This Wednesday, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands was in Amsterdam alongside her husband King Willem-Alexander, his mother former Queen now Prince Beatrix and her brother in law Prince Constantijn for the delivery of Erasmus Prize ceremony which was awarded to the Wikipedia community.
Arriving with her husband King Willem-Alexander to the Royal Palace of Amsterdam in a gray coat, Maxima revealed inside her coat a powder pink dress by Natan on which she had pinned a brooch in diamonds and gemstones to match her earrings. Her hair pulled into a bun, the Queen of the Netherlands had accessorized her outfit with shoes with high heels and a clutch bag gray as his cloak, for a two-tone look more refined.
Her stepmother Princess Beatrix had meanwhile opted for a black tunic and money on a black pencil skirt and thrown over his shoulders outside a black cloak studded with pompons. In the company of King Willem-Alexander and Prince Constantijn his brother, came without his wife Princess Laurentien, the two women took part in the Erasmus Prize ceremony, endowed with 150,000 euros. Focused this year on the theme "digital culture and dissemination of knowledge", it is back to "Wikipedia community", represented for the occasion by three young men. Each is engaged in an initiative within the famous collective encyclopedia on the Internet. The work of Adele Vrana (Brazil / USA) focuses on Wikipedia Zero, a project for mobile operators in Africa and Latin America, giving free access to all Wikipedia. Phoebe Ayers (USA) works at mutual reinforcement between Wikipedia and scientific libraries. Lodewijk Gelauff (Netherlands) is the initiator of Wiki Loves Monuments, an annual photo contest around the monuments and cultural heritage. Born in 2010 in the Netherlands, the project has now spread worldwide.
The "Erasmusprijs" is awarded annually by the Foundation Praemium Erasmianum. The latter was founded in 1958 by Prince Bernhard, husband of Queen Juliana, Beatrix's mother and grandmother of Willem-Alexander, who sponsors now. It distinguishes each year on a different theme, a person or an institution, within the cultural traditions of Europe, has made a significant contribution in the field of culture, humanities or sciences sociales. With a note that Wikipedia was also one of the recipients of the Princess of Asturias Award given to Oviedo on October 23 by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain.
