The King of Spain Felipe VI and his wife Queen Letizia attended on Tuesday, December 15 at the funeral of two Spanish police officers killed the previous weekend in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The two Spanish policemen were killed on Friday, December 11 during an assault led by the Taliban, in the diplomatic area of the Afghan capital. Two Afghan employees of the Embassy of Spain have also lost their lives.
The first died Spanish policeman died instantly in the explosion of the car that occurred around 6:00 p.m. local (14.00 French time). The second officer was wounded and died while being transferred to the hôpital.Les attackers were eventually killed, according to the Afghan Interior Ministry. The Taliban claimed the attack, which ended at dawn Saturday, saying it was a guest house frequented by foreigners.
The two policemen were buried Isidro SanmartÃn Gabino, 48, married with three children; and Jorge GarcÃa Tudela, 47, married with two children.
