The Norwegian Royal Courts: The 25th Anniversary of reign celebrations begin

This Sunday January 17th, Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja will celebrate the 25th (Silver Jubilee)anniversary of ascending to the Norwegian Throne following the passing away of King Harald V's father King Olav V. Events celebrating the anniversary began today and will take place all throughout the weekend.
Earlier today, Their Majesties granted audience to various municipalities, governorates, the government, the parliament, the church and representatives of other religions for congratulations protocol.
The public can also congratulate the Sovereign couple either at the castle or online(starting now till Sunday 17th at 00:00 Norwegian time).

The Norwegian Royal Courts: Queen Sonja visits Longyearbyen

Her Majesty the Queen was in Svalbard. The Queen and the minister of Justice and Public Safety Anders Anundsen arrived Longyearbyen early this morning. Their first meeting was with the Governor and the emergency services, representatives of local government in Longyearbyen, fire and rescue, the hospital and the local Red Cross explained exceeded, devastation and rescue operation.

Queen Sonja was impressed by the great solidarity amongst residents of Longyearbyen showed in such a difficult situation. Seeing the chaos exceeded created with my own eyes made an impression on the Queen.

- There is also a painful time one goes to meet, said the Queen. But with this unity and the great will to get through this we have seen with them we have met, I think this is going very well, and that solidarity will be even stronger.

The Norwegian Royal Courts: Queen Sonja at the Mass Service for the Paris victims

Queen Sonja, wife of King Harald V of Norway, attended Last Thursday December 2nd in Oslo a requiem mass for the victims of the terrorist attacks on 13 November in Paris.

Her Majesty had in fact represented the royal family at the service celebrated this December 3 evening in the Catholic Cathedral St. Olav in Oslo. It was a requiem mass for the 130 victims of terrorist attacks in Paris. It was co-celebrated by both the Catholic and Lutheran bishops of the Norwegian capital, in the presence of ambassadors from various countries and representatives of several religious communities.

The Norwegian Royal Courts: Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette-Maritt at the TUR Conference

Queen Sonja has been an honorary member of the Norwegian Trekking Association since 2007 and her love of the outdoors and Norwegian nature is well known.
During the opening of the conference today, Her Majesty spoke with host Queen Ingunn Solheim about traveling and nature and what it means. HRH Crown Princess was also present at the opening today.

The Norwegian Royal Courts: Queen Sonja met with minority women

Her Majesty the Queen visited MIRA-center today.

The center's goal is for women to find their own voice and be confident in themselves, while becoming better acquainted with their community and with Norwegian society. Ahead of this autumn's municipal and county elections mobilized the many through the campaign "Raise Voice Now".

MiRA Center working for better living conditions and equality for minority women in Norway through legal assistance, information, political participation and cultural and social activities. The center's leader, Fakhra Salimi had just received Jurist Association's legal price for 2015.

Salimi and her deputy Khansa Ali received the Queen today and gave her a tour and an introduction to the Centre's work and history.

Queen Sonja got to meet women from several nationalities over a table covered with mouth swelling delicacies from different countries and with homemade mint tea in the cup, where Her Majesty was given a more detail accounts about women's experiences, their hopes and dreams, and their encounter with Norway.

Queen Sonja also heard about several individual projects, including focused on raising awareness of young girls, legal counseling and maternal guidance.

The Norwegian Royal Courts: Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette-Marit in tiaras at Annual Parliamentary Dinner

Thursday evening was held at Royal Palace, Oslo traditional annual parliamentary dinner.

Established in 1906 by King Haakon VII, it gathers around the royal family and representatives of the Norwegian people. For the occasion, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, wife of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, had chosen to wear a white dress with short sleeves with a very fine lace patchwork. It was signed by Peter Dundas, the Norwegian artistic director of the Italian fashion house Emilio Pucci. She was accompanied by a diamond tiara, the "crown daisies" the same simplistics tiara she wore at her wedding.

On the arms of King Harald V, Queen Sonja was displayed in a sumptuous royal blue dress. Side jewelry, she opted for the ornament in pearls and diamonds Queen Maud. In a pink and gold gown, Princess Astrid, the great King's sister who was moving with crutches, meanwhile wore a curious head of jewel-like insect antennae.
