The Norwegian Royal Courts: Two days of Royal Activities for the Royal Couple

10/21/2015
Today the King and Queen visited  the new arrival center for refugees established in Råde Østfold. - We must do what we can to help them, said His Majesty the King.

In recent months there have been many asylum seekers arriving in the country. Therefore, UDI and National Police Immigration have now established a large arrival center in Råde, where functions have been dispersed in multiple locations together under one roof. The center makes it easier to accept the asylum seekers and guarantee them better conditions their first days in Norway. King and Queen were very impressed with what they have achieved in a short time.

Meeting with refugees
Royal Couple also had the opportunity to talk with some of the refugees at the center. A family from Iraq with their four children made a big impression on the Queen. They had been traveling through Europe for eighteen months.

- They had come here with a desire for their child to grow up here, with good schools and opportunities for a dignified and good life. It is touching, told Queen Sonja when they met the press after the visit According to Kongehuset.no.

- Now we have at least two occasions benefited from that others have taken care of us. It was during the great emigration to America and during WWII. Now we, together with Europe, show that within us and give something back to other people who ask for help in distress, said King Harald to TV2
