The Bhutanese Royal Courts: Welcome to HRH The Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuk

We finally now know the name of the Bhutanese Crown Prince born on the February 5th and since then had the appointed title only of Gyalsey (the heir). The King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and his beautiful wife the Druk Gyaltsuen Queen Jetsun Pema had revealed in connection with a Buddhist ceremony held at the dzong (fortress-monastery) to Punakha on April 15th. This coincided with the 400th anniversary of the day of arrival in Bhutan Tibetan Buddhist master Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgya, informed by the Secretary for Information Bhutanese government.

Too cute with his thick black hair, the Royal Baby -that his parents had presented the previous day at Lhakhang monastery Changangkha in Thimphu- was obviously the hero of the ceremony. Passing of his father's arms to those of his mother, it was also worn by former King The Fourth Durk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck, his grandfather who was seen brushing his hair with a small white brush.

Revealing that his son was given the name of Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, the young king of Bhutan told the thousands gathered in Punakha dzong of that meant Jigme Namgyel fearless and victorious. He stressed that these two adjectives symbolize one hand the great courage that should be hers to overcome any future challenges when serve his country, second victory over all the obstacles it encounters.
“When the time comes for Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck to serve his country, he must always place the concerns of his country above all else and serve his people justly with great love and dedication. It will be his sacred responsibility to build a harmonious and just society, and thereby, fulfill all the aspirations of his people,”
After profound contemplation, he has been named Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck in the sacred Machen Lhakhang.
Jigme means fearless. It symbolizes great courage to overcome any challenge that he may confront in future as he serves our country.
Namgyel means victorious in all directions and victory over all obstacles. It is a name taken from the revered Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, who enabled the Dharma to flourish in all directions as prophesied by Guru Rinpoche.
