The British and Serbian Royal Courts: Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall in Serbia #RoyalVisitSerbia

After Croatia, Prince Charles and Camilla left for Serbia, to continue their six days official visit to the Balkan territories. The opportunity for the Duchess of Cornwall to support the foundation of the tennis player Novak Djokovic.
 The couple landed in Belgrade this Wednesday, March 16th for two days in the former Yugoslavia.

This first day was marked by official appointments such the interview with the President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic at the presidential palace and the dinner hosted by the Serbian Prime Minister. And the laying of a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in honor of the Serbian soldiers, British and Commonwealth who fought side by side in the First World War.


The couple had both separate as well as engagements together, while Charles was accompanied by Serbian Patriarch Irinej, at a meeting of religious leaders of the Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, Muslim and Jewish in Belgrade, Camilla has attended to her own engagement, in connection with the causes she defends and was seen in a store where bagels are sold to benefit a charity that fights against trafficking in humans and sexual violence. She also visited the house of Zvecanska children. There, she met with representatives of UNICEF and the Novak Djokovic Foundation. Created by the famous Serbian tennis champion, it develops in the country of early childhood education projects and provides grants to educational initiatives to help children.


The Prince of Wales also took advantage of his visit to Belgrade to see his Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia, aged 70, and his wife Crown Princess Katherine, son Hereditary Prince Peter at the Blue Salon of the Royal Palace. Pretender to the throne of Serbia, Prince Alexander is the son of the last King of Yugoslavia Peter II and the godson of Charles's mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The journey of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to the Balkans, from 14 to 19 March 2016, focuses on peace, reconciliation, youth empowerment and restoration after the war that tore the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s if this is the eighth official visit of Prince Charles, heir to the British crown, in this geographical area, this is the first time that Camilla accompanies it. Apart from Croatia and Serbia, the royal couple will travel to Montenegro and Kosovo.

An official visit to Croatia with her husband Prince Charles, Camilla highlights sexual violence during the war in the former Yugoslavia.
This is the eighth official visit of Prince Charles, heir to the British crown, in this geographical area, this is the first time that he is accompanied by his wife Camilla Duchess of Cornwall.  Engaged since 2009 in sensitizing public opinion to the problems of victims of sexual violence, so it did not fail to include this issue in her agenda.
The Prince of Wales and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall began this Monday, March 14th in Zagreb, capital of Croatia, a six-day visit to the Balkans focus on peace, reconciliation, youth empowerment and restoration after the war that tore apart the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s.


 This Tuesday 15 March, Osijek, a town in eastern Croatia that was on the demarcation line between Serb and Croat forces, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II attended a meeting with an NGO that support victims of sexual assault that occurred during the conflict. Welcoming their work, she said militants of the group, according to the National Croatian news agency Hina: "You have done well, you have encouraged women to break the silence, asking for help and legal assistance."

Charles, who work for many years to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding of different religions, meanwhile attended a meeting organized by the Centre for Peace and Non-violence Osijek, supported by the British Embassy Zagreb.

Related remarks, AFP notes that the number of victims of sexual violence during the Balkan wars, long neglected, is estimated 20 000 to 50 000 people, mostly Muslim Bosnian. The Croatian Parliament adopted last May a law providing for compensation to victims of sexual abuse 20 years after the end of the war, recognizing the civil status of victim of the conflict some 2 500 people hitherto ignored.

The two days the couple have spent in Croatia has seen a succession of various other meetings and visits with the official welcome and the State dinner hosted by the President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović. And Camilla, passionate equine gente, notably had the pleasure to discover the solo Dakovo National Stud, one of the oldest in Europe since it was founded in the early sixteenth century.

The British Royal Courts: A week in the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall agenda

Since the beginning of this week, Prince Charles and his wife H.R.H Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall multiply royal engagement. Thus we saw the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II turns at the controls of an armored and armed vehicle behind a pub counter or the eye of a microscope.

Wednesday evening Prince Charles, accompanied by his beloved wife Camilla, attended a charity reception to benefit the Friends of the National Libraries in Lambeth Palace Library in London. As for the Prince of Wales, he began the week in Norfolk. The grandfather of the twowas on Monday February 22 in Dereham in the new barracks of the 1st Queen's Dragoon Guards, the regiment served -which in recent years in Afghanistan and Iraq and that it is the Colonel masterpiece is back in the UK after having been based in Germany for 14 years.
